About Brad

I am fortunate to have worked with thousands of clients across Oregon in my years litigating and mediating cases. One thing I learned is that regardless of who is right or wrong in any dispute, litigation is a long, stressful and expensive process. A good mediator provides a confidential setting where the risks of litigation are avoided and creative solutions to the dispute can be explored.

My wife, Debbie, and I both grew up in Washington County, Oregon, and raised our two children here. With a psychology degree from Oregon State University, I worked as a counselor before earning my law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School. For much of my career, I owned a successful trial and appellate practice where I advocated for clients in administrative agencies and all state and federal trial and appellate courts.

In addition to my law practice, I had the privilege to serve in both the Oregon House of Representatives and State Senate, where in 2007 I was named the legislature’s “Consensus Builder of the Year.”

Between 2008 and 2019, I was elected three times as Oregon’s Commissioner of Labor and Industries, a statewide, nonpartisan office that addresses some of the most contentious and complex issues faced by employees and employers. As Commissioner, I oversaw more than 25,000 employment-related investigations, thousands of litigated cases and hundreds of mediations.  My public service gave me a unique appreciation for how our courts and agencies impact the lives of people and businesses.

As a mediator, it’s my nature to listen more than talk. I will help advance your ideas and, if resolution seems impossible, will help generate new and creative pathways to end the dispute. A solution is hiding in every conflict, and I can help you find it.
